    It was better than out-of-a-can pasta, but for stating that they are a "homemade" place, the pasta was def. from a box. and not good....It gives the feel of a "mom and pop" place with the wine bottles and the table settings, but I knew right away we were in trouble with the rice-type granular of "ground" parmesan cheese. A bad sign. Nothing special about the salads, nor the bread and assortments of crackers, and the wine was fine. The service was fair and the cheese garlic bread was bread with melted cheese and garlic and salt on top. We both ordered the spaghetti with meatballs; my wife the smaller portion and I the larger. There was no difference in the amount of pasta I got and what she ordered. The pasta was overcooked and straight from the box...absolutely. We both looked at each other and said the same thing. I even had to exchange one of my meatballs with my wife's because hers was cold. People that know good Italian food will know what I am talking about and for those locals that say this place makes authentic food, they must really enjoy the olive garden too. They may have a history with clients and that is great, but this place is nothing special nor is the food. I have heard the saying "how can you really go wrong with bad Italian food...' Luigi's will show you how!

    This is a little Mom and Pop hole-in-the-wall jackpot! I ate there recently and just had the minestrone, house salad (if you like blue cheese crumbles, this is the salad for you!) and the cheesecake. I walked out with a big smile on my face. The garlic cheese bread is yummy, too. Homey, cozy atmosphere and great Italian food, good prices.

    Perhaps the dinners are good, but I had the misfortune of ordering pizza here last night. Probably the worst pizza I've had in over five years. The sausage was tasteless and was as dried-out as doggie kibbles. Since when is a pizza supposed to be spicy hot? I grew up in Chicago and know what good pizza, yes even New York pizza, tastes like. This was not it. Lots of leftover pizza in the fridge but heading for the trash can. Also, overpriced compared to other restaurants. They lost me and it was my first try. Two stars because it was warm when I arrived.

    Wonderful food, great service. Nice, comfortable setting with a fire place on to make it welcoming. Wine selection was solid and the server gave us info on the special and had great follow up service. We were the last ones in the joint but there was no rushing us out. Would go back again... Great food and dessert!!

    A little pricey but worth it for the ambiance. Red and white checkered table cloths and chianti bottles adorn the candle lit dining room. Fresh french bread and breadsticks are wonderful while waiting for your meal. Very kid-friendly, even in the almost romantic atmosphere. A family favorite throughout the years. Pizza is delicious and the tortellachi is a personal favorite.

    If 3.5 stars were possible, I'd give it that. I definitely wouldn't mind coming back for some good Italian, but it probably won't jump off my head if someone asked me where to go. I enjoyed my eggplant parm and my friend's tortellaci was good and interesting. I definitely left dinner super full. it's an interesting location and my friend asked me if we were gonna get shot. ha!

    Love this place, I have been going there scene I was a we little one. It really has not changed much. with the straw wine bottles hanging from the walls to the red and white checked table clothes. it is a family run business that has done it right for over fifty years! I watched the godfather not to long ago and swear there was a scene that showed the inside of Luigi's in it. They make there own sausage, Ravs, and tortellacci(my fav). Love the house salad, and the fresh bread, there pizza are very good also nice thin crisp crust with fresh ingredients. Good for the whole family when I'm with my kids they will bring out pizza dough and a small amount of toppings so the kids can practice there pizza making skills. Its definitely a locals hang out, that is family run and has great food.

    After living here for almost 2 years we finally ate here and glad we did. We had a combo pizza of pepperoni, meatballs and mushrooms. Outstanding pizza that you can taste the freshness . Best pizza in the Springs!

    We went to Luigi's because of some great reviews I read...very disappointing. First, we waited quite a while before being seated, without even a greeting (We'll be with you in a minute.) The salad was drenched in dressing to the point it was nearly pickled! The appetizer was okay...meatball sliders. My husband ordered chicken parmesan. Although different than what he is used to (breaded cutlet) it had good flavor. The side of spaghetti was pretty tasteless. I ordered chicken marsala...not like any I have seen. No mushrooms, a tasteless brown gravy, and about a half inch of oil floating on top. We waited quite a while again after we were finished and finally I had to flag down the waitress to bring the check. That took about another 10 minutes. We usually tip very well, but not this time. Just couldn't do it. 10%. Oh, and my water glass was empty until I asked for a refill. I hate that! Just a personal pet peeve of mine.

    We have been going to Luigi's for 40 years. It's our favorite "date night" place to eat. The best Ravioli hands down. They use Italian sausage, spinach, and ricotta cheese in it. We copied it and make it at home. I read most of the reviews. I think Luigi's is the best Italian in town. Some times are better than others. But it's always good.

    This place is a local gem! I've been eating at Luigi's since I was a little kid, so perhaps I have a bit of a bias, but I love it! It was also one of my Grandpa's favorite restaurants, and he was a picky man with impeccable taste in food. I typically order the lasagna and it never disappoints, but I have enjoyed everything I've ordered from the menu. I enjoy the atmosphere of dining in, but my family also orders to-go food from Luigi's on a monthly basis. They're efficient, quick, friendly. All the things you want in a restaurant!

    Tonight a group of four of us came here for dinner and wow, we were pleasantly surprised. We arrived at 5 sharp and were seated right away, which turned out to be a blessing since the place filed quickly and by the time we left, there was a line of people waiting for a table. The restaurant is cozy and is decorated with strings of white lights,wine bottles and pictures of pasta and Italy. Two of us had the spaghetti with meat sauce and 2 meatballs. My other mates had the rigatoni and the tortellini. The table also shared an order of the garlic bread on top of the fresh baked bread that was brought with our soup and salads. The food was delicious and the service was spot on as well (which was surprising since other Yelpers have said otherwise). Heads up, a large size is more than adequate for sharing and we left with plenty of left overs. There is also a fair selection of wines and beer. Over all, each of us was satisfied with the service, ambiance, food and price. We'll most definitely be back.

    Food very good. Service not. This is our second time there & both times we waited for a server to come by, until we finally asked a bus person to find out who the server was. Then, we had a restaurant.com certificate & the server took it upon herself to add 18% tip to the ENTIRE BILL AMOUNT, including the tax amount. She wrote tip next to the amount but never told us or pointed it out to us. She obviously knew she wouldn't be getting that much as she wasn't worth it. Plus, the bus person was taking away plates & asking my husband if he was done, while he was still sopping up gravy with his bread. Food is very good & we will return & hope the 3rd time is a charm.

    Family owned and operated since 1958. That's pretty impressive. I really enjoy going to Luigi's. So far it is the closest thing I've found to an Italian joint like those in NYC's Little Italy (and actually better than my experiences in NYC). The lighting is low, there is a fireplace, and strung up with the white Christmas lights are old-school wine bottles. Went last night and tried the Formaggio Al Grecco appetizer. Not all that impressed... The rest of our food was very good and I couldn't resist the hot Italian bread continuously brought to the table. I swear I probably ate 2 pounds of bread. The tortellacci was the highlight of the night. It was delicious and I wish I hadn't committed to sharing it. The restaurant gets very packed and they do NOT take reservations (they supposedly take "call ahead" seating). The tables are also very close in proximity, but it is a very small place so it's all good. Yelpers always say how good Roman Villa is. I'll have to try that here soon. But for now Luigi's is the place for me.

    50 years of family-run business at this cozy little place. I thought the service was really friendly. This is not a fast-food joint - this is a sit your butt down and relax for a meal kind of place. There were four of us. I ordered a half & half: half spaghetti & meat sauce and half tortellacci. Tortellacci is like tortellini, only much bigger. According to the table tents, they hand-make their ravioli over a 3 day process. I switched from ravioli to tortellacci at the last minute. Wish now I would have tried the ravioli. Doh! Hate it when I do that. Everyone else loved the tortellaccis - didn't really float my boat, but that's because they were served with a heavy, white sauce which isn't my favorite. Minestrone was super good. Decent prices, but the waitress seemed surprised I was able to down my plate. Hell, I can eat two of those in my sweats at home! Everyone else ordered the small portions and I think, secretly, they had wished they upsized. We were licking our plates partly because we were still hungry and partly because it was pretty dang good. Specials each evening. I would go back to try the eggplant parmesan - my ultimate favorite - served on Tuesday.

    This place is ok - food was not great, but good. How can you mess up Italian really? I had minestrone soup and it was more like stew, so filled with all sorts of stuff, not sure what everything was! Salad was very american - ice berg lettuce, vinaigrette dressing, etc. Good bread though. The waitress was extremely bored with us and did nothing to anticipate being attentive as a server, filling waters before we asked, etc. Just mediocre service. Nice that it's family run, but it was a mediocre experience. I'd go to Panino's instead.

    Don't be confused by the "homemade" term they like to throw around. I drove 45 minutes on the rumors of fresh, homemade pasta. I was SO excited when I got there: fresh pasta was on the menu and that's what was for dinner. Yum! I ordered the Ravioli that was marked as "homemade" and waited patiently. It finally arrived and I was so ready to dig in. I was quickly disappointed, however, once I took my first bite. The pasta was hard...like it had been sitting around for a while...while the sauce was watery. As someone who knows their way around a kitchen a little bit, that raised a lot of red flags for me. The pasta "leaked" so much water during the cooking process, meaning that it went from frozen state to boiling water quickly. Plus the pasta wasn't seasoned properly, and "hard" around the edges. "When was this pasta made?" I asked my server, curious. "Probably last week," he said, matter-of-factly. "You mean your pasta isn't fresh?" I asked "We make it once every two weeks and freeze it," he said. "So I'm eating frozen pasta?" I said disgustingly. "Yes." I quickly pushed my plate away after only a few bites and asked for the check. I was already having a bad day, and now I just realized I just drove 45 minutes to eat frozen pasta. Think about that for a second. Let me say that again: I just drove 45 minutes to eat frozen pasta. *sighs* If you are in the area and looking for homemade pasta, don't let Luigi's Restaurant confuse you. It's nothing more than a glorified Olive Garden. You could not pay me to sit and eat there again. Unseasoned, frozen pasta for dinner anyone? It's only 18 bucks a plate. Enjoy. R. Meza

    Ah, just what I remember from my youth. A real Italian place, without looking out of date. Very comfortable. knowledgeable staff, great food, great time. Perfect for family Sunday dinner or just friends wanting darn good food in a comfortable place to drink and talk. Tony Bennet singing in the background seems cliche but it works well here.

    I wish I had a more positive review as this restaurant has been in town for a very long time. This was our first time there and we must have caught them at a bad time - 6p on Sunday as there was quite a long wait to be seated and the service was slow. The staff was very friendly, but the food, wasn't very good. We only had pizza and in my opinion I wouldn't go there for that. Maybe we'll give it another chance and try a baked pasta dish?

    Wow!! We came up from Phoenix to visit family. We were all hungry for Italian food so we picked Luigi's. None if us had ever been here. And as it turned out, it was an excellent choice. 2 of us has spaghetti w/meatballs, 1 had the rigatoni and one had the homemade tortillini Every plate was good and the service was spot on as well. 2 hints-if its a Saturday (like it was for our first visit), get there right at 5 or you'll be waiting. And do NOT order the full order size unless you know you want enough for leftovers. The home made bread and the salad will fill you up otherwise. Good beer and wine selection too.

    Ambiance: Homey, mom-and-pop style Italian-American diner, that is a throw back to the 50s and 60s. Dining room is inviting, with a large fireplace that is wonderful to sit near on a cold winters night. Small bar area. Checkered table cloths. Service: Friendly. Food arrived promptly. Food: Good quality American-version of Italian pasta dishes are their mainstay. Hearty and filling lasagna and ravioli entrees are my favorite. Good green salads and warm, crusty bread accompanies your meal. Wine selection is just ok. Overall, this is my second favorite Italian place in town (no one holds a candle to Roman Villa). However, when in the downtown area, I enjoy coming to Luigi's for a change of pace. Nothing fancy, but filling and satisfying. I never leave hungry.

    Walking in to a place I had not been to before to grab a quick bite with the wife, I was a bit concerned that I might be under-dressed in a t-shirt, shorts and flip flops. I entered the building and poked my head around. I realized I was not the only one. On the plus there was no allusion to a dress code, and I could sit down to a meal without feeling out of place, however, I think in the back of my mind I was hoping that this place that was recommended to me had a bit more class imbedded into the scene, where I might have regretted not at least throwing on pants and a nice shirt. We were very joyfully greeted at the door after a brief moment and shown to our table. A nice smile like that is always appreciated. It tells me what kind of service I can look forward to. Perusing the menu, they had many of the classic Italian dishes that one would expect in an Italian-American restaurant. The menu was a simple variety of options with succinct explanations and reasonable looking prices, accompanied by a wine list (which I didn't get a chance to take a serious look at). Our server was very gracious, bringing us an assortment of bread products in a small basket and a couple waters while asking us if she could get us anything else to drink. I just got a fountain soda (since they did not have the sweet tea I wanted) and my wife a cherry Italian soda (which was DELICIOUS, a flavorful and colorful drink with a large cherry swaying in the glass... it took me back to my younger days of experiencing Italian soda). After our server parted to get our drinks, I grabbed a piece of the wonderful, warm bread with a nice crunchy crust and a perfectly baked inside, and slathered it with the room-temperature butter (always appreciated when I don't have to warm the butter in my hand). As we munched on our bread, ordered our food, and then conversed, taking a look around at the decor, we were a bit overwhelmed by the Chianti bottles hanging around the entirety of the dining areas, strung around white x-mas style lights. This might be appealing to some, but to me, it was remnant of a college frat house. One would think that after over 50 years of business they could afford to upgrade a bit. This drew my attention more and more to the details of what was considered decoration and a dining setting. It became very evident that the owners have no desire to keep up with the times. Again, perhaps some find the novelty of this all appealing, but I found the fake wood walls, Chianti bottles and xmas lights, overhead lighting that reminded me of a kindergarten cafeteria, and the posters of ingredients a bit tacky and out-dated. In short, it could do with a new look. Here comes our appetizers (that come with the meal) of a soup for me and a salad for my wife. Well, the minestrone soup smelled great and tasted pretty good as well. It was a small, but satisfying cup of soup just enough to hold one over while waiting for the entree. It seemed to be of fresh ingredients, at a desirable temperature for soup. On the other hand of it, the salad my wife received was overpowered with the smell and taste of vinegar, served in a wooden-looking bowl. The waitress was very kind to accommodate us and offered her a cup of minestrone instead, but she kindly declined. The food came out in a timely manner, considering they were nearly packed when we got there, but was a disappointment to the eye before even biting into it. My ravioli looked like an elongated plate of watery sauce with some pasta sticking out of the bottom. Upon further inspection, the pasta was greasy and the meatballs lacking a sear (and as anyone who knows how to make a proper meatball, one sears the outside and finishes it in the oven to lock in the flavors and moisture). On to the taste... In a word, my dish was "okay". I didn't want to spit it out, but I did question whether or not I wanted to continue eating it. It was disappointing. The pasta dough was very obviously over-kneaded and possibly frozen with an undesirable ratio of filling to pasta. The form of the ravioli was disgraceful, looking like it was flopped around in the pan so as to stick to themselves. Even tasting the filling by itself I was not impressed. The whole dish needed flavor, a new presentation and to be WARM (it wasn't frozen, but it certainly had been sitting somewhere for a bit before being brought to me). On the other hand, my wife's dish (the manicotti) was PIPING HOT!! Holy cow... She burned herself just trying to give me a bite. It seemed to taste okay (again, just okay) but had an overly strong aftertaste of pepper. Now, let me explain that I grew up as the skinny, little Polish boy surrounded by Italian families that always wanted to feed me and in an area where Italian immigrants and descendants abounded. So, to say the least, I am very picky when it comes to Italian food. I was brought up knowing what it all should taste, look, feel, and smell like. Luigi's missed the mark.

    i was dissapointed as my husband and i have been looking for a good Italian dinning experience for quite a while and heard from a few friends that Luis was the place having been in business for 50plus years. Upon entering the space it look as if the decor had not been changed since the 70's. Although it has the potential to be nice the wood panel walls and low caged fluorescent lighting gave a closed in feeling. I had the manacotti with house salad. My husband had the ravioli with minastroni soup. His soup was fairly okay. My house salad was soaked in dressing and way to heavy on the vinegar. My entree was to hot to eat when it was served after having to let it cool down for a few minutes it did smell nice but the red sauce that covered the pasta was watery and the stuffing was flavorfull when first tasting the ricotta cheese and herb blend but on the finish was overpowering with pepper. Very disappointing.my husbands entree was poorly conceived the ravioli was drowned in watery red sauce and the sauce again was very peppery the pasta did not taste fresh and the meat stuffing had a foul taste of just mashed together left over meat mixture. The girl go served us gave the impression that she knew the food was not uptown par after saying sorry to us a few times. I did inquire if the desserts were made in house and she said they were not. All of the deserts are shipped in from out of state. :( I would not recommend this spot.

    This is one my favorite colorado springs restaurants. My wife and I stumbled across it one time by mistake and keep coming back. This time we broght the familiy. 3 had the manacotti. One had the chicken parmesan and one had spaghetti with meatballs. All were good as always. To describe this restaurant is to say it is home style italian. They have the empty chianti wine bottles on the wall. They have old style bar and decor but that is the beauty of the restaurant. The worst thing they could ever do is to update it. Just keep it vintage and we will keep coming back.

    the food here is pretty good. I like Paravicinis in old colorado city better, though. Its worth going back to for the food once in a while, but the service isnt that great. All but one of the wait staff seems almost annoyed that they have to serve you. there is one quiet pleasant woman who waits there and my husband and I like her, but the others certainly aren't the most hospitable. my favorite dish is the fettuccine with besciemella sauce. My hubby prefers the chicken parm. the red sauce has a bit of a bite, lots of pepper.

    uat had dinner there, while the food was good, the service was horrible. The waitress seemed very condesending, didnt smile one time, we had to remind her about our desserts, she forgot, and i had to remind her about her checks. Very very slow service, and even the hostess wasnt even very friendly, 5 people and a baby were crammed into a small table right by the door. I was so excited to try handmade food at this place and left in a bad mood. The seating needs a makeover, and the staff could use some customer service training.

    Don't expect much on the decor and it can get a little crowded, but that is because the food is very good. On par with some of the family owned Italian places in KC, Omaha, and Chicago. We had a large group of 12 and the service was what could be expected. The food was served hot and no one had to wait. They kept the bread and drinks coming through out the night.

    The epitome of the mom and pop shop. This was the kind of place that makes you happy just eating there. Even though my friends and I went there on a Wednesday evening, the place was pretty packed. Not bad for a local joint. We had a coupon for four dinners, so we decided to use that. There were only three of us, so I ate for two, which was awesome. The waitress said after I had eaten everything, that she'd never seen anybody do that before. Made my entire day (still puts a smile to my face). I asked if I could have a plaque of me on the wall, but she just laughed and walked away. One of these days... I had the mastacholi with meat sauce and the fettuccine alfredo. Out of those two entree dishes, the alfredo was my favorite. The sauce was a bit heavy, but had a bit of a kick to it due to the crushed peppers. I think the only thing missing was that if there were some grilled shrimps on it, that would have been perfect. All the dishes were good, but unfortunately, I have had better. I really liked this place. The wait staff was very friendly and this restaurant represents everything that's great about a mom and pop shop, instead of those corporate franchises.
